User Guide: Business Plan Architect
Overview
The Business Plan Architect is a specialized prompt engineering tool designed to help entrepreneurs, students, and consultants generate professional, highly structured system prompts for AI models (like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini).
Instead of asking an AI to “write a business plan” (which yields generic results), this tool constructs a sophisticated “persona” with specific constraints, financial logic, and strategic frameworks tailored to your exact needs.
How to Use
1. Configuration (Left Sidebar)
Start by defining the core parameters of the business. The more specific you are here, the better the AI output will be.
- Target Industry / Niche: Enter the specific field (e.g., “Specialty Coffee Shop”, “SaaS Fintech App”, “Vegan Bakery”).
- Scope & Location: * Global/Digital: For online products without geographic borders.
- Local: Unlocks the Location field. Essential for brick-and-mortar businesses.
- Location Field: Enter the specific city or district (e.g., “Austin, Texas” or “Budapest, District V”). The AI will use this to infer local demographics and competitors.
- Business Type: Select the current stage (from “Idea Phase” to “Scaling/Growth”). This changes the AI’s priorities (e.g., validation vs. operational efficiency).
- Target Audience: Who will read this plan?
- VC Investors: Focuses on 10x growth and exit strategy.
- Bank Loan Officer: Focuses on risk mitigation and collateral.
- Self/Internal: Focuses on an actionable roadmap.
- AI Persona Style: Choose the “personality” of your consultant.
- Shark Tank Investor: Critical, demanding, focuses on weaknesses.
- Supportive Mentor: Encouraging, educational tone.
2. Advanced Modules
Toggle these special modules to inject deep domain expertise into the prompt:
- Financial Module: * Enabled: Forces the AI to calculate specific metrics like CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost), LTV (Lifetime Value), Break-even point, and Burn Rate.
- Note: The generated prompt will advise you to enable “Code Interpreter” or “Data Analysis” features in your AI for calculation accuracy.
- Strategic Marketing:
- Enabled: Adds requirements for User Personas, Sales Funnels, and Channel Strategy (SEO, PPC, etc.).
3. Output Formats (Console Header)
Choose the format that best fits your workflow:
- MARKDOWN (Default): Best for copying directly into a standard chat interface (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude). It renders nicely for humans to read.
- JSON: Ideal if you are a developer using the OpenAI API. It formats the prompt as a system message object.
- XML: Optimized for Claude (Anthropic) models, which follow instructions better when wrapped in XML tags.
- YAML / TOML: Alternative structured data formats often used in configuration files or advanced prompt engineering workflows.
4. Copy & Execute
- Review the generated text in the black console window on the right.
- Click the “COPY TO CLIPBOARD” button at the bottom.
- Open your preferred AI tool (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).
- Paste the prompt and hit enter.
Tips for Best Results
- Don’t write the plan yourself: The generated prompt instructs the AI to start a Discovery Phase. It will ask you 3-5 critical questions first. Answer these thoroughly! The quality of the final plan depends on your answers to these initial questions.
- For ChatGPT Plus Users: If you enabled the Financial Module, upload a CSV of your projected expenses (if you have one) after pasting the prompt. The AI acts as a CFO and will analyze your file.
- For Claude Users: Select the XML format for the best adherence to the complex instructions.
- Local Businesses: Be specific with the location. Instead of just “New York”, try “Williamsburg, Brooklyn”. The AI can often infer specific foot traffic patterns and local competitor vibes.
