The intersection of generative AI and digital archaeology offers unprecedented possibilities for visualizing historical heritage. This project demonstrates a complete professional workflow for the digital reconstruction of the Schlossberg Castle in Mecseknádasd, utilizing a multi-model AI pipeline to transform fragmentary historical data into a cinematic visual experience.
The Challenge: Interpreting Fragmentary Data
Reconstructing historical structures often presents a significant challenge: limited visual evidence. In the case of Schlossberg, the process started with only probable floor plans, a basic schematic drawing, and the remaining stone ruins. The goal was to test how modern AI models interpret these technical inputs to create a structurally sound and historically plausible representation.

Methodology and Technical Workflow
The reconstruction process followed a structured four-stage pipeline:
- Model Benchmarking (The “Beauty Pageant”): Using the Higgsfield ecosystem, several state-of-the-art models—including GPT Image, Flux2, and Seedream 4.5—were benchmarked against the historical schematics. The NanoBanana Pro model was ultimately selected for its superior ability to maintain architectural integrity and adhere strictly to the provided floor plans.
- Environment Harmonization: Initial generations often contain modern artifacts (such as contemporary housing or infrastructure). To achieve historical accuracy, the environment was modified using generative inpainting techniques to replace modern elements with period-accurate landscapes.
- Multi-Angle Synthesis: Using the Higgsfield Angles tool, the 2D reconstruction was expanded into multiple perspectives. This step is crucial for verifying the spatial consistency of the AI’s architectural interpretation.
- Cinematic Motion: The final static assets were processed through KlingAI (v2.6) to generate high-fidelity video sequences, adding life and atmosphere to the digital twin.
